La Boîte aux Huîtres
by Cate Boyle
While strolling through the many mouth watering stands of the Jean-Talon market, Victoria and I stumbled upon an oyster bar at the very edge of one of the aisles. This stand immediately caught the attention of the shoppers walking by, with its fun music and lively crowd hovering around. We couldn't possibly pass this one without stopping and trying some of the 25 different types of fresh oysters they had laying out across the bar covered in ice. Here, we met Jacob, a shucker for La Boîte aux Huîtres. He was extremely friendly and helpful when assisting us in our choices. He has been working at La Boîte aux Huîtres for two years now and, its clear he truly enjoys his job! His advice for sampling our first oyster of the day? “Just a splash of lemon juice and a drop of Tabasco sauce can change your life.” We watched as he positioned himself at the counter to choose the best oysters for the day, then shucked them himself right in front of us! The oysters were delicious, and the service was incredible. We highly recommend La Boîte aux Huîtres at Marché Jean-Talon for oysters anytime!
